CICERO GROUP’S DR. HOLLIE PETTERSSON HONORED BY SALT LAKE CHAMBER
Award given for professional excellence, contributions to community
November 15, 2018 (SALT LAKE CITY) – The Salt Lake Chamber announced Cicero Group’s Ed Direction practice lead, Dr. Hollie Pettersson as a winner of the 2018 “Pathfinder Award.” The honor is given annually to community leaders who “create new paths” and promote the development and recognition of women in business.
“Hollie first paved the way for herself, hammering away at the obstacles placed in her life to achieve the highest academic and professional pedigree possible,” said Dr. Trent Kaufman, CEO of Cicero Group. “Now she does the same for those around her—especially women—by setting extremely high expectations and then providing the support others need to achieve those lofty goals.”
Dr. Hollie Pettersson is a Partner at Education Direction where she leads a team of improvement coaches working with schools, districts, and other educational agencies to improve leadership, teaching, and learning. Her team works with all types of schools, including those in turnaround status. She is a published author with articles in peer-reviewed and trade journals, nationally distributed curriculum, and instructional media. Hollie works with a variety of organizations, both public and private, performing program evaluation, leading change initiatives, and developing the next generation of educational leaders.
In over two decades of work, Dr. Pettersson has gained expertise at the state, district, and school levels. She started her career as a classroom teacher and has taught at the elementary, middle and secondary school levels, she also teaches pre-service teachers and administrators at the university level. Her leadership roles have included state-, district-, and school-level administration. In 2008, she was appointed Director of Teaching and Learning for a relatively large (45 schools) re-start school district formed through voter action in Utah. In this role, she led the restructuring of virtually every aspect of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and teacher and administrator development. Hollie has developed and implemented nationally recognized instructional programs. She is a frequent author of articles on student achievement, educational improvement, teacher leadership, and social impact.
Dr. Pettersson holds a Ph.D. in Psychology, her doctoral dissertation focused on school improvement with a focus on equity, access, and implementation science. She also holds master degrees in Educational Leadership and Policy and Special Education.
“We congratulate Dr. Pettersson and are delighted to honor her and Cicero Group for their efforts to improve our community on a daily basis,” said Derek Miller, president of the Salt Lake Chamber. “She joins an impressive cohort of business and community leaders and we’re excited to recognize their achievements.”
From the Salt Lake Chamber:
“The Pathfinder Awards are presented annually during the Women & Business Conference and ATHENA Award Luncheon to a select number of worthy community leaders who have a history of support for women and women’s issues and who have worked to further the development and recognition of women. This award has been a traditional part of the conference for many years.”
